Makai

Makai is a hereditary Pagan, taught by her mother, who is a member of the Rosicrucian's, how to explore the world of metaphysics.

At the age of 9 Makai was initiated in to the Rosicrucian's as a priestess of the temple. At that time she learned the value of meditation, prayer and the study of metaphysics. In her teen years her aunt taught her the art of Tarot and her mother showed her the art of Astrology. Throughout High school Makai practiced these arts and shared them with her friends.

After leaving home in 1988 Makai studied and practiced herbalism on her own and soon became quite proficient at healing with them. Soon after, Makai met her first Wiccan teacher and began a year long course of study via Starhawk/Spiral dance and group workings. After several years of studying with the group in Southern California Makai moved back to Santa Cruz and promptly discovered the group Redwood Circles just as it was forming. With a keen interest she worked with this group to provide semi-public Sabbat rituals for seven years. As well as running a small studies group known as Gateway Groves out of her home monthly for several years with a fellow pagan from that group.

When Redwood Circles disbanded in late 2000 Makai and her partner at the time co-founded the group Community Seed. Starting up with 4 Public Sabbat Celebrations a year as well as a monthly Open Circle. As things grew and expanded a monthly nature walk and summertime beach cleanups were added. A magazine ran for 4 years in which Makai aided in contributing articles, poetry, art, layout and editing. She is looking forward to continuing to aid Community Seed in it's endeavors to network local pagans.

Makai has had several individual students over the years and looks forward to teaching again and sharing what she knows about her spiritual path.
